claire allain jewellery: I became interested in jewellery from an early age, i used to work at a jewellers on my home island of Guernsey at 16 years old. My first initial spark was set loose when I watched the drawer of gems being opened and a small paper envelope being slowly unwrapped to reveal a collection of sparkling diamonds!! that was it for me! I carried on my studies up until university and gained a b.a hons in silversmithing and jewellery. My designing was then backed up with the skills I learnt at a jewellers in the U.K. after which I became a self employed jeweller. I have exhibited many times and have also owned my own business within a retail space,after seven years i realised that I really enjoy the creating not the selling. So my move to New Zealand has provided me with an opportunity to supply Galleries once again and work from my own workshop letting someone else do all the sales side of things .
